I picked this up thinking it would be a straightforward mystery, but it surprised me with how layered it was. The relationship between Nate and Sandra felt real and gave the story an emotional pull alongside the suspense. The courtroom scenes were sharp, and the twist around the hospital cover-up kept me hooked.

I loved following Susanne and David through their discoveries, and the way the story moved from personal tragedy to bigger questions about power was gripping. It’s equal parts science, thriller, and love story, and I couldn’t put it down.

I’ve read both Law and the Heart and The Sleep Doctors, and what strikes me is how different the stories are yet how they share the same strength: believable characters facing impossible choices. The blend of personal struggle. romance, and suspense kept me turning the pages in i both. Dasse has a way of making complex themes feel immediate and very human.

David Brace’s backstory was fascinating. Seeing how his imagination developed into groundbreaking ideas felt authentic, and the military chapters were intense. By the time the technology fell into the wrong hands, I was completely invested. It’s a cautionary tale but also a very human story.

What I liked most was the pacing. The mystery unfolds slowly at first, but once the investigation picks up, the tension never lets go. The Singapore setting added a lot of atmosphere, and the detective character was a standout A great blend of romance and suspense.
